CHATSWORTH, Calif. - Evil Angel will roll out the much-anticipated sequel to John Stagliano's landmark, hardcore BDSM epic, The Fashionistas, in two separate DVD releases.
Karen Stagliano, who handles public relations at Evil Angel, told AVN.com that Fashionistas Safado: The Challenge will release Sept. 30, just before the nominations deadline for the 2007 AVN Awards in January.
"The biggest reason for this is that the project is so damn long to begin with," Karen Stagliano said. "The first Fashionistas was four-and-a-half hours long, and although we got tons of praise for it, some people did say that they didn't want it to take longer than one night to watch a porno." She said that for the follow-up, director Stagliano collected a massive six hours worth of edited footage.
Karen Stagliano assured that both of the features would be able to stand on their own, each one functioning as its own movie. "Both of these titles will act as two separate features, and will both be about three hours long each...I don't want to give away any of the twists and turns of the movies though," she said.
According to Karen, Fashionistas Safado: The Challenge will go further into the relationship between the characters played by performers Rocco Siffredi and Belladonna. Like the first, the next two installments were filmed with a lot of input from the European fetish community. John Stagliano, the owner of Evil Angel and director of the project, has worked on the titles for the last two years.
Stagliano went on to say that Fashionistas Safado: The End will release in early January, and will pick up where Fashionistas Safado: The Challenge left off. "It will feel a lot like [the sequel to] Pirates of the Caribbean, in that a lot of information will be thrown out there right at the end of Fashionistas Safado: The Challenge, but viewers will have to watch the next one...Rocco's character will make a very important decision at the end of Fasionistas Safado : The Challenge."
"As in the first Fashionistas, Rocco will receive a mysterious message, but this time it's on the Internet, and it's from a rival character."
Fashionistas Safado: The Challenge also stars Jenna Haze, Melissa Lauren, Katsumi, Sinthia Stone, Nacho Vidal and Jazz Duro, as well as well as a 20-performer orgy scene. Stagliano added that there are BDSM scenes in both of the features being played out by various extra cast members.
"Each of the two releases will be available on its own at the time of release," Karen said, "and then both releases will be available together, in a four-disc pack, much like the way we did the first Fashionistas." Karen added that the company is looking into including a coupon with the separate releases that would go towards a discount purchase of the four-disc pack.
The Fashionistas dominated the 2003 AVN Awards show in Las Vegas, having been nominated for a record 22 statuettes and taking home 10, including the coveted Best Film and Best Director - Film honors.
