e' stato ora fissato per il 26 febbraio 2017.

Il pubblico accusatore aveva offerto a War Machine un accordo:
16 years to life (condanna di 16 anni a vita) or 18 to 40 years (18 a 40 anni di prigione)
War Machine e' stato accusato di 34 reati contro 2 persone: Christy Mack e il suo amico Corey Thomas.
Certe accuse, se WM e' trovato colpevole, portano una sentenza di ergastolo (a vita).
WM si sente abbastanza fiducioso che se la cavera bene in un tribunale davanti a una giuria.
Nel frattempo WM attualmente e' in prigione in Nevada, per aver violato certe condizioni in una condanna precedente.

Il pubblico accusatore ha scaricato tutto il possibile/necessario.
Ma si sa che ci saranno generalmente delle discussioni (plea barganing), ritiro di certe accuse, la giuria che non considera certe accuse "incerte" e indimostrabili, ecc.
Ma in questo caso si tratta di 2 persone aggredite nella lora casa, lesioni corporali molto gravi almeno nella parte di Mack, ecc.
La ragione del ritardo diel processo e' che il legale di WM ha indicato (la parte maggiore della sua "difesa") e' che non si puo violentare
una porno attrice, che fa parte del suo mestiere, e che poi Mack avrebbe indicato a WM che aveva una "fantasia" di essere violentata.

Non cercavo di paragonare.
Per me sono due spazzature.
Uno (misogino, aggressivo) che non e' stato accusato/processato dalle autorita, per cui l'industria porno aveva in primo luogo gli aveva girato le spalle e dopo un anno lo hanno riaccolto con braccia aperte e tanti sorrisi.
L'altro che ha cercato di rintegrarsi nel porno piu di una volta, non ci e' riuscito e alla fine ha aggredito violentamente una attrice.
E poi si fa un prcesso in cui lui si difendfe e dice che essere aggredita faceva parte del suo "mestiere".

A Las Vegas jury deadlocked on two counts of attempted murder, but Jonathan Paul Koppenhaver, who legally changed his name to War Machine during a career in which he went 14-5 while competing for promotion companies UFC and Bellator, could still face life imprisonment.

Sentencing is scheduled for June 5.

Non so cosa c'e stato bisogno 2 settimane di processo per un crimine brutale (2 persone), con testimoni, e parzialmente non contestato.
Non ho nemmeno capito cosa consisteva la difesa di War Machibne.... Che Christy aveva delle fantasie di "stupro"? Che
War Machine prendeva dei farmaci che lo facevano reagire in modo violento, che ha un problema con il suo cervello?
Alla fine e' stato un ignobile codardo che dopo 2 settimane di processo e testimonianze non ha voluto testimoniare per la sua difesa.
Spero che il giudice fara il suo lavoro (che dubbio) e lo sbattera in galera per molti anni. Un tale animale non pu'o essere rilasciato nella comunita, fara del male e ammazzera qualcuno(a). Aveva gia malmenato un'altra donna prima di Mack, e non ha mantenuto la pace (per questo si trova non libero ma ancora in una cella).

LAS VEGAS—Just over one hour ago, Jonathan "War Machine" Kopenhaver was found guilty of 29 of the 34 counts with which he had been charged, bringing an end to the trial which lasted just more than two weeks and perhaps bringing some relief to his two victims, former adult star Christy Mack and her boyfriend Corey Thomas. A full list of the charges can be found here, and among the ones of which he was found guilty are several counts of battery resulting in substantial bodily harm (including battery by strangulation) on both Mack and Thomas, sexual assault (including sexual assault with use of a deadly weapon), first degree kidnapping, as well as dissuading a witness from reporting a crime.

Koppenhaver was found not guilty of burglary with use of a deadly weapon, sexually motivated coercion, and battery with intent to commit sexual assault. The jury, which was composed of eight women and seven men, deliberated for approximately 11 hours over two days but was unable to reach a verdict on Counts 26 and 33, the attempted murder of his two victims. Upon hearing the jury's verdicts, District Judge Elissa Cadish declared a mistrial as to those two counts. The Las Vegas District Attorney's office will have the option to retry Koppenhaver on the attempted murder charges, but considering that none of the charges could result in the death penalty, the DA may wait until Judge Cadish pronounces sentences on the other 29 charges on June 5, which could result in life in prison for the former MMA fighter, before making its decision.

After hearing the jury's verdicts, defense attorney Jay Liederman told reporters that he will be filing a motion for a new trial on at least some of the charges, though likely not the ones for which Koppenhaver pled guilty: Counts 16-23, which are several counts of Battery Resulting In Substantial Bodily Harm Constituting Domestic Violence and Battery With Use Of A Deadly Weapon Constituting Domestic Violence.

After the verdicts were read, Mack tweeted, "Today was a great victory for myself, as well as victims of DV everywhere. Please continue to speak out, and stay strong!" She also offered to her fans, "Thank you all for your support through the years, please continue to support others in similar situations, and BELIEVE them."

Koppenhaver has been in custody since his arrest in Simi Valley in late 2014, and has been serving a 1-1/2 to four-year sentence for violating his probation on a 2009 conviction for attempted battery involving a 21-year-old woman.
