'Porno' Dan: Hungarian Community to Adopt PCR/RNA, 14-Day Testing
February 18, 2019 9:04 AM —Legal - By Peter Warren
BUDAPEST, Hungary—Director/performer "Porno" Dan Leal released the following statement Monday morning on behalf of the Hungarian-based adult industry community regarding the current production shutdown in Europe due to an HIV-positive test result in the talent pool:
On the morning of Thursday, February 14 we were notified of a possible positive HIV test at one of the labs by several individuals and quickly went into to a course of action to immediately suspend all productions. By mid-afternoon, this person (patient zero) was confirmed to be positive.
Since models travel throughout Europe for work patient zero let the agencies across Europe know who they worked with in the time period between his last negative test and his positive test. This list was a total of nine models (first generation exposures). Through the hard work of JulModels, Euromodels, White Models, United Modeling, Model Mania, Sandy’s Models, Brill Babes, Nikki's Models, and others, all first generation exposures were contacted and quarantined by the night of the 14th as well as their partners (second generation exposures).
Announcements for a shutdown of production across Europe, until this situation was resolved, were made on adult industry boards, online magazines media sources, and platforms, as well every major mainstream social networking sites. Too many models and companies to be listed here are to be commended in their hard work for getting this message out in a timely manner.
A meeting was called for on the night on Friday, February 15 in Budapest, Hungary on the best course of action to take regarding this very unfortunate situation. Before this incident, most companies in Europe took tests that were normally based on the Elisa detection system for HIV. This has a window of detection of 45 to 60 days. A test was valid up to one month in parts of Europe. It was decided that the producers and talent in Hungary would only accept PCR/RNA testing for HIV going forward which has a significantly lower time table for detection of 7 to 10 days and testing would be done every 14 days. All models of Hungarian agencies will only work with production companies in other parts of Europe who abide by these same guidelines.
Also, all productions would only accept tests after February 18 which require everyone who shoots here to retest using PCR/RNA before resuming production.
In addition, the adult industry in Hungary is committed to making the adult industry a safer and better place. We will be having meetings to try and get even more advanced and better testing practices and policies enacted here and encourage all production in other parts of Europe to make the switch to PCR/RNA testing every 14 days.
It should be noted that [this] is the first adult industry HIV shutdown in Europe and hopefully with the new testing measures will be the last.
Over the weekend, much commentary was volleyed on social media among European talent and producers about when production would resume there, with some suggesting that it may start back up as early as today. Asked whether any decision had yet been reached about this among the community, Leal told AVN, "There is no unanimous decision from Hungary but as of now no one is shooting as we are still working on the logistics of switching tests."

Talent Testing versus CET — which gives the best tests for porn performers?
By Jingleheimer xPublished February 17, 2019 HIV, Industry
When Talent Testing announced recently they were adding a free HIV testing to their ‘gold panel’ for adult performers, the FSC and others said it wasn’t needed. Just a few weeks later it was revealed that Nacho Vidal was HIV positive and had been for years, this despite the fact that he had been tested numerous times since then and appeared to clear. This is because he was on his medication and at the time of testing at least, had suppressed his viral load.
But as many others have said before, just because you are okay today, doesn’t mean you’ll stay that way. There are many things that can change that including accidentally missing doses, taking certain over the counter medications, drinking large amounts of alcohol, and partying and taking some not so legal drugs.
Now all of Europe is on a mandatory moratorium, while they test all the first and hopefully second-generation exposures. There are also rumored to be more than a handful of 2nd generation exposures in our own talent pool here in the US.
So yes, Nacho Vidal testing positive for HIV is a very big deal.
So now the question is, what are the difference in tests between that which you get at Talent Testing and that which you get at CET?
If you go to CET you will get the following tests for $165.
•HIV-1 RNA
•RPR
•Trep-Sure
•Hep Bs Antigen
•Hep C Antibody
•Chlamydia
•Gonorrhea
•Trichomoniasis
CET does an HIV test called the HIV-1 RNA. Google tells us that Rapid HIV tests screen antibodies so require a 12-week window period for an accurate result. After 12 weeks, this test is highly accurate, 99.68%.
99.68% accuracy on a blood draw is pretty darn accurate. But that being said, there is a downside to this test. The RNA test is known as a viral load test. HIV viral load testing measures the amount of HIV genetic material (RNA) in the blood and reports how many copies of the virus are present. If someone like in the case of Nacho Vidal is able to suppress his viral load through medication, he will, “PASS” this test and be cleared to work.
If you go to Talent Testing you will get the following tests for $155.
•HIV-1 NAT
•HIV Ag/Ab
•HBsAg
•Anti-HCV
•Chlamydia
•Gonorrhea
•Trichomonas Vaginalis
•Syphilis (RPR)
•TREP-SURE EIA
Talent Testing uses two different kinds of HIV tests. The first is called HIV-1 NAT. The average window for this test is about 22 days – far superior to the 12-week window with the test given at CET.
In addition, you will also get a test called HIV Ag/Ab. This is the test that the Free Speech Coalition and a few others were up in arms about. This is what they call an antibody test. This means that anyone who is HIV will test positive even if their viral load is suppressed, simply because they have the antibodies in their system.
This not only helps detect new infections with great accuracy and in less time, but can reveal anyone who actually is HIV+ and trying to hide it.
I’m not telling you to go to one testing facility over the other, I just want you to know the facts and what kind of tests you are really getting.
You know what they say ……. the more you know!
