Nel 1983, Kathy si stabili' in Florida, e nel 1986 sposo' un polizziotto, Jeffrey Douglas Willets. Tempo dopo Kathy mise un'annuncio su un giornale locale (il Fort Lauderdale “Sun-Sentinel”) in cui e "invitava" e "ospitava" degli uomini a casa sua, guadagnando piu' di $2,000 la settimana. Nel mese di luglio 1991, le autorita' arrestarano Kathy e Jeff per prostituzione. Kathy protestava che non era una prostituta ma piuttosto una ninfomane, e che Jeff era impotente e che gli piaceva osservare (da un guardaroba nella stanza da letto) gli incontri amorosi di sua moglie (che lui filmava con una cinepresa). Jeff fu condannato a 15 mesi di detenzione, e Kathy ha dovuto scontare una sentenza di lavoro comunitario (400 ore). Fu una causa celebre che rese Kathy molta famosa, e appari nelle riviste, giornali e talk show (Kathy appari nuda nella rivista Playboy di marzo 1992).
