A 40-year-old adult film actress was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court in Eugene to six months in federal prison for tax evasion.

Janine M. James, also known as Janine Lindemulder, has until March 10 to report to prison, assistant U.S. Attorney Chris Cardani said.
James, a Huntington Beach, Calif., resident, pleaded guilty in August to willfully failing to pay nearly $300,000 in outstanding federal taxes on income she earned while working in adult films, Cardani said.
James did not make any federal tax payments between 2000 and 2006.
During that time, she spent more than $750,000 on various items, Cardani said.
In 2005, James purchased a 2,272-square-foot house on Riverbend Place in north Eugene for $647,700.
In sentencing James, U.S. Magistrate Judge Thomas Coffin ordered her to spend six months in prison, followed by one year of supervised release.
After she is released from prison, James will live up to six months at a federally operated residential community corrections center.
Coffin also ordered James to pay the estimated $294,000 she owes the federal government, Cardani said.
James is a former Penthouse model who appeared in numerous adult films.
She also had a role in the 1997 Howard Stern film "Private Parts" and appeared on the cover of rock band Blink 182's 1999 album "Enema of the State."
